Case by Case the System Turns
lessons for the person who learns
Every case a steady theme
while proving truth to be supreme
showing good that never fails
ensuring that justice prevails
set in a trial, the truest test,
democracy at its very best
the Judge decides law, the jury facts
the lawyers banter to the max
fight the good fight as each lawyer tries
the best case they can, exposing the lies
to thine own self each must be true
and truth is the goal of the system too.
Flaws exist to be sure
the goal of Justice always pure
The issues are big but the system can bear it
As each case is decided on its own merit
The system works as the system must
because we begin “In God we Trust”
Individualized circumstances, remedies needed
some are punished when law isn’t heeded
only by one’s own actions can one be damned.
the work is so plenty, the system seems jammed
the system is burdened with so many players
competing principles, laws, and layers
to find the truth is goal number one
to apply the law gets the job done
a lot of fairness, equal opportunity too
the system has so much to do
whatever strategy as the case may be
the lawyer’s insights hold the key
so trust your lawyer to do her part
the theme she picks will touch the heart
and move the system to do what is right
for just one case, to bring to light
the needed change that benefits all
on a case by case basis as we heed the call.
