Learned a new term here: thanatology; I see your points. My most interesting college exam was for a high level writing class that ended a week before I graduated to go to law school. The professor was a crusty old gay guy with scum in the corners of his mouth. He openly disdained women. I thought he was a giant jerk. Even so- what an intriguing final.

He went to the black board and scribbled out: “Write your own obituary. Do not be humorous.”

wow- what an exercise. Of course this is about what legacy you intend to leave but what an insight you had to think how you make people feel.

I lost my husband in 2011 and got very familiar with my views on death. I appreciate most moments in life and the understanding, significance, and impact of death much better.
