Love this quote: The smarter you get, the slower you read.” Naval Ravikant said. Even in law school I read slow and it took forever to get through the massive reading material. I write all over my books and take notes in my journals on everything I read yet it has often bothered me that I am such a slow reader for such a well educated person. I think I need to hear the words in my head to really own them.

I had to take remedial reading first semester of college and I thought fast reading was just something I could not master even as I have taken several speed reading classes over the years. Underlining with my finger helps speed up but is not how I like to do it unless it is boring case law or I know what I am looking for.

I never saw my deliberative reading practice as the advantage you express (although my good grades should have supported this idea). I just know it is how I do it. I love the nuances of hearing the writers' voices too- Like they are talking to me.

Thanks for making me feel less dumb- ha- or smarter. I really thought I was somehow handicapped in this way of how I do it. I have never ever in my life heard anyone advocate for slow reading!
