When I was first exposed to Feminist Jurisprudence after I was a lawyer at an event at Vermont Law School, I saw immediately what was missing in the law- a female perspective.

None of the Philosophers of law I studied in undergrad felt like they got it right whether it was the fact skeptics or the legal realists, HLA Hart or even Dworkin. We learned the “reasonable man standard” in torts. It was 1984 but can you imagine how offensive this is? At least now we have developed the reasonable person in those circumstances standard yet the system still does not work as well as it should for those harmed by the conduct of others thanks in large part to Judges who are men and insurance companies, especially State Farm. I am not kidding and will write it with transcripts in tow.

I rather think that feminism is the radical notion that women are people. That our thoughts should be treated as mainstream, not separate (and therefore more easily dismissed), although sometimes I genuinely think we are wiser than men yet have less opportunity to show it or even develop it.

Thank you for this very insightful article. I read another one today that spoke about how incompetent men like Boris and Trump get elected and trusted nearly because their confidence is high and competence is low. Seriously- wake up American and Britain! I worry Elizabeth Warren should run for Vice President so we can win. Seriously- Hillary Clinton was and is 100 times more in the know and competent (and even more moral) than Donald Trump. What is wrong with us collectively? This is a holy shit moment!

I am trying to figure out how to have the greatest impact post-primary career which is overwhelming at times, being a mere mortal- and a woman by birth.
